PERSPECTIVE: The Number One Job Skill in 2020?

PERSPECTIVE: The Number One Job Skill in 2020? | Start Empathy | Scoop.it

"Sports coaches and fitness trainers. Massage therapists, registered nurses and physical therapists. School psychologists, music tutors, preschool teachers and speech-language pathologists. Personal financial planners, chauffeurs and private detectives. These are among the fields expected to employ at least 20% more people in the U.S. by 2020. Did you notice the common thread? Cameron Parsons's insight:

PERSPECTIVES: Welcoming Immigrants: Why Empathy Is Smart Economics For Cities

PERSPECTIVES: Welcoming Immigrants: Why Empathy Is Smart Economics For Cities | Start Empathy | Scoop.it

Why should a local government care about welcoming immigrants and becoming an actively empathetic institution? Not only do immigrants add social and civic value to towns and cities, they also help their communities become stronger economically."

Cameron Parsons's insight:

The recent wave of immigration north from Central America to the United States has re-ignited one of the most polarizing debates in the contemporary American political arena. However, continuously missing from the conversation is a little empathy. Ashoka fellow David Lubell, founder of the organization "Welcoming America," is looking to change that, and in the process, the economic strength of the American city.
